Active Lifestyle and Why?

by Jennifer Richard on May 24, 2019

If you have been falling sick or getting tired really easily, it’s probably due to the lack of exercise in you.

Don’t get me wrong! I’m not saying that you are unhealthy, but did you know that most illnesses are developed due to the lack of exercise?

I can name you a dozen of health implications just from being inactive! From heart diseases, diabetes, asthma, obesity, high blood pressure, back and joint pains, increased feelings of depression, anxiety, cancer and so many more. All of these! Just from the lack of exercise!

In this comprehensive research, human subjects from different age groups, different levels of physical activities and different medical backgrounds were tested and researched, concluding that with higher levels of physical activity comes with higher survival rates and longevity as well as reducing the chances of getting chronic illnesses.

So, how much exercise should we be getting? It’s up to you! From 2 hours of moderate-intensity to 1 hour of vigorous-intensity activity, it can help anyone and everyone from different age groups and medical backgrounds. It doesn’t matter how much you move; it’s you moving that matters.

“Exercise is medicine”

Other than benefiting your physical health such as strengthening your heart, reducing your risk of chronic diseases, weight loss, building stronger muscles and bones, exercise also helps your mind and soul.

Exercise helps clear your mind by stimulating a part of the brain called ‘Hippocampus’, associated mainly with memory and is believed to help with higher thinking, learning, creativity boost and decision making. Give your brain the exercise it needs!

Your mental health also benefits from exercising as it eases away negative thoughts and promotes better sleep by releasing happy hormones such as serotonin, endorphins and reducing the level of stress hormones to ease stress and anxiety! Happy soul, happier you!

Hey! Stay tuned to our Instagram or our blog for our next article on exercise for the skin!

So, start moving now! If you have any existing health problems, always consult your doctor first on what kind of exercise routine you should adopt and always start slow.

Here’re some examples!

  • In the office? Get up from your chair and walk around!
  • Don’t sit for too long, always remember to get up and walk around for a bit.
  • Do the chores! Get sweeping, mopping and cleaning.
  • Use the stairs!
  • Walk, jog or cycle around your neighborhood.
  • Hiking or forest bathing and connect with nature!
  • Get off a stop before your destination and walk!

So get moving!
